It will happen gradually and you won't have a choice. As the tech gets better and better (and it really is improving), eventually one manufacturer after another will offer it as an option on all vehicles. Then it will become standard on all vehicles, but has to be enabled by the driver. Next up is that the auto-drive system will automatically take over if a threat (dangerous conditions, possible collision, etc) is sensed. And finally, it will be mandated that the systems be enabled full time for "safety".
