Why should it be? Heck, why should any culture be taught at the primary or secondary level? We have kids graduating that can barely read, have extreme issues with math, know nothing of real history, and can't think critically. Primary and secondary education should focus on teaching students the basic life skills needed to get by. Let culture and other such non-life skills be taught at the collegiate level.pbwalker wrote:So I assume you wouldn't want the christianity culture taught too, right?anygunanywhere wrote: From the business perspective, I don't care if they have experienced any other cultures. I want them to be able to do math, read, write, communicate, shut the heck up when I talk, and be able to work without going glassy eyed and drifting off to never never land.

We were actually still being told all the old myths like Columbus went voyaging to prove the world was round and that the ancient Greeks lived in a "democracy" like we have in America. I think the garbage history taught in school these days is worse than no history being taught at all. Realistically, we'd be much better off if the masses just believed they were ignorant instead of being deceived into thinking they're "educated." It's not what people don't know that's killing us, it's what they wrongly believe they know that is facilitating our destruction.

This is one reason why we chose to homeschool. It's kinda fun when my kids read something in their lessons that is just patently wrong or is only looking at one point of view and my wife and/or I can sit down and teach how it really was. We recently had a run in with the Civil War being all about slavery. And yet when I showed them quotes from certain people and information from sources other than their lesson books, well.... Let's just say that it's awesome to see a child puzzle things out for themselves and come to the right conclusion on their own.
