Re: Anyone heard of them?

I thought about starting another thread, but, this seems to be a good place for some follow up comments on CCLS... I see that Mr. Nixon posted his one and only post (so far) earlier in the thread, so, maybe he'll see my comments here and follow up with us...

A bit of background.. I've been considering purchasing CHL legal service "insurance" for some time... The various options all have their own advantages and drawbacks (details skipped). I was hoping to get some additional information about CCLS, and have been trying to do so for several weeks, but as of today, I'll need to cross them off my list... Here's why..

Strike #1... A very incomplete web site.
Their web site is, in my opinion, lacking in any meaningful information. What exactly is covered? What is excluded? Does the coverage include the cost of expert witnesses? Court costs? How about coverage for appeals? Am I covered when traveling out of state? Are there any limits to coverage? What are the limits, exactly?

Their FAQ (as of this date) is, in my opinion, a joke. It tells me little.

There is no online copy of any membership agreement or contract for me to review. It seems to me that they expect members to sign up and pay first, and then receive their contract later. I am unable to find a copy of their contract anywhere on their web site.

You understand that CCLS will mail the written contract to your address stated above within thirty (30) days. If you have not received your contract within thirty (30) days, it is your responsibility to call Concealed Carry Legal Services Customer Service
Strike #2... Lack of follow up from Tom.
So I emailed them in mid January. I asked them for a copy of their agreement. Tom replied to my email promptly and said he would mail me a copy, he just needed my mailing address. I provided my address the same day.... About 10 days later I sent another email... Today is 09-February and I'm still waiting for any additional information from Tom. Specifically, I have not received anything at all in the regular mail and no further replies via email....

Strike #3... So I called... Still nothing.
Realizing that email can be unreliable sometimes (spam filtering, etc.), I called their office number and spoke to a woman who took my email address and promised to email me a copy of the contract "by the end of the day". Still nothing. I asked a few questions and, in my opinion, was put off by the tone of the answers as much as the lack of any real "information". I was warned that if I got "popped" carrying out of state that I could "get in trouble"... Did this person not understand anything about reciprocity?. She was at least clear that the CCLS contract did not provide any coverage for out-of-state events. Overall, I was wholly unimpressed.

I sure would like the opportunity to better understand the service offering from CCLS, but given my experiences to date, I am totally unimpressed and can't imagine they would be able to convince me to do business with them when they seemingly are reluctant to provide critical details about their contract/terms.

..... Maybe my experience is atypical and they really are a great company...???? :confused5
If anyone is doing business with CCLS, maybe you can share the coverage details with us?
