My most recent HOA letter was about putting up an "unauthorized structure". We put some sun shades on poles, about chest-high in the front yard, to screen the sun from some new bushes we planted, while they rooted. Replacing bushes that got killed by the freeze last year.

I copied the section of the by-laws that authorized such screening without the need for prior approval. Included an invoice for $50 for my time spent responding to their unsupported allegation. I actually received a written apology, but no money.

I received a Let's Go Brandon lawn sign for Christmas. We stopped opening gifts so I could put it out immediately.
So far, no letters... In my neighborhood, I doubt anyone would complain.
