Re: 1911s! A topic everyone likes!

Well, should finally update this thread! I picked up a nice used STI Shadow today and could not be happier with it, it really is a great compromise between my colt series 70 and my Kahr pm9. Gotta love the way a nice aluminum 1911 feels in the hand. But, I'm still on the hunt for the Dan Wesson CCO as well. (don't tell my wife!!) ;-)

Re: 1911s! A topic everyone likes!

After more and more research, I think I've come to the conclusion that I'd like a commander length slide on an officers frame, (aluminum frame, stainless slide preferred). I REALLY like the Dan Wesson CCO  , and am still intrigued by the Kimber CDP. What other options are out there in that configuration? Doesn't seem to be that many.

Re: 1911s! A topic everyone likes!

Well, I went and fondled a handful of 1911's today and I'm really liking the STI line up. I Am leaning towards the Escort or the Shadow, although I think the Shadow has it. Had the wife with me and she liked the idea, although I was told I "better start saving". But she also said I indeed should have one. :coolgleamA: Thanks for all the suggestions! :tiphat:

Re: 1911s! A topic everyone likes!

Excellent question! I should have included that in my first post. I think I'll be looking in the 1000 dollar range (Mrs. Atxtj wouldn't be real happy if I spent more). I am familiar with the 1911 platform and wouldn't be truely opposed to a commander sized gun, but I'm a small framed guy which makes carrying larger pieces somewhat difficult. Oh and I have no problem with buying used.

1911s! A topic everyone likes!

I'm thinking about picking up a 1911 and have an idea what I'm looking for, but wanted to see what options I have, (and did not know about). What I'm looking for is a compact (officers size) 1911, aluminum frame (stainless slide perferred) that is not a kimber. Ideas? Or am I chasing a pipe dream? :tiphat:
