I answered for myself. "got here as fast as I could" actually, the Navy got us here, my Dad was transferred to Corpus when I was in High School.

My husband's grandmother was a Czech immigrant, still had her accent when she died, I was blessed to meet her once. His dad was full Czech, one of his great grandfathers also immigrated, came in on a ship to Galveston. He's probably 5th or so generation. Wow, I've never thought of that.
