I am reserving judgment about this turnaround. I'm torn, though. I believe if this was a PR stunt, he would have made a bigger deal about training with LEOs and getting his CHL. The fact that he did it with a blogger and didn't get much press makes me wonder if he's serious, or if he's scared of what his liberal friends might think of him now.
Hopefully, he's serious, and his conversion real. That would be one more in the ranks, and a college president to boot.

"This did not sit well with Dr. Holda, who chastised the move as “unfortunate and ill-advised” and criticized Simpson for filing the bill without first consulting him. Holda proclaimed, “What we want is for representatives to file legislation based on a good body of information.”"
Of all the arrogant bass thugs....who is this Dr. Holda? Is the the guru of all the academia nuts? Do all of the other academia nuts all over the US call him up every time they want to make a statement about something? Does he have the final say so? Why should the representative consult someone who would say no to the bill? Is that "the good body of information"? And who is this we he's talking about? Does he have a mouse in his pocket? He could have pulled numbers out of his butt and said that was the good body of information. Sheesh.
If a college professor says something is "ill advised", it's the same as a congressman saying it. It's very advisable, and full of common sense.
These academics drive me insane.
