I think the best thing to do if caught in a stampede would be to try to trip as many folks as possible to create a pile-up that would then cause the crowd to go around. If you were able to pull your weapon and fire it, you would almost certainly injure some innoncent person or persons who were only doing the same thing that you were - in this case risking your life to get some kind of "deal".
