Re: New online CHL application & procedures

At https://txapps.texas.gov/txapp/txdps/chl/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; it says returning users can check the status of an application, but I never see a page that lets me check status, just that verbage that says I should give the system enough time to process the app...

Re: New online CHL application & procedures

While the process is quite easy (assuming I did things correctly) they are not clear about some supporting documents. What are "Born out of Country Documents"? I assumed Report of Consular Birth and scanned that old doc and attached, I guess we shall see. Lucky I still have that ancient s...

Re: i cant remember when i got arrested or find records!

I got arrested probably 10 years ago on a theft charge. A buddy (area judge) said he could get rid of it if i took a theft class. I took the class and let it go. Now I want to apply for my CHL, but I figured I should put the arrest on the application since the DPS will probably see the arrest. I ca...

Re: CHL as ID (Pass) for TSA?

I have used my CHL twice as an ID for TSA. (Not traveling with a gun on either ocassion) 1- Long Beach where it not an issue and no one said a thing. 2- Boston Logan, where it actually sparked a friendly conversation and questions about the CHL process in Texas. I was actually surprised at the posit...

Re: Colorado and California road trip

Sounds like a great trip.

Just a clarification, there is no law in California that states the ammo cannot be in the same container as the gun. It can even be loaded in the magazines, but the magazines cannot be inserted in the handgun.

Wow, they must be getting swamped as everyone I know who did it a few months back had 3-5 day turn around times.

Re: Should I, or Shouldn't I...? Black Talon

I remember that part of the stink, at least in California, was that ER doctors were afraid that fishing around for a BT bullet with a finger in an HIV positive gunshot patient's wound channel would expose them to the risk of HIV because the petals on the expanded bullets were sharp enough to cut th...

Re: Should I, or Shouldn't I...? Black Talon

Isnt the Black Talon body armor piercing? I see you can still buy why are they so exspensive? The amount of bad information in this thread is insane. No they are not armor piercing!!!! The reason they are expensive is they are no longer made and there is a lot of hype surrounding them. Here is the ...

Re: Nevada now accepts Arizona CCW

Does Arizona require fingerprints if you already have a Texas CHL? I'm sorry, forgot to add, yes they include a fingerprint card that must be filled out, they don't care who does the prints. The lady at the AZ DPS even told me, If I felt I could do them, feel free to do them myself. I paid a servic...

Re: Nevada now accepts Arizona CCW

I've also got my request in, and they're sending me a packet. Wife wants to go on vacation in October, including a few days in Vegas. Texgun: how exhaustive is the application? I remember my initial application for the Texas CHL took me forever to fill out, simply because I had to remember every jo...

Re: Nevada now accepts Arizona CCW

Sent in my application on Tuesday and sent an email on Friday just asking if they had received it, within 10 minutes go a reply, asked a few more questions and all were answered within minutes. They really have an awesome system set up over there. Oh, another cool benefit of the AZ CCW is the benef...

Re: FAST CHL ID not same as bar code

I just wanted to register simply to say THANK YOU! and thank goodness for the "search" function. I had the very same question and am getting finger printed today. Welcome to the forum!! As you can see from my signature it was absolutely not an issue at all. Good luck with your application...
