The Ultra CDP II is a great pistol. I shoot a 1911 better than any other semi I've ever tried (I guess I'm just a single-action kind o' guy!), although I had never tried one with a 3" barrel before I got this one.
I must say, I'm very impressed with it. It's very accurate and altogether reliable. Not even any problems during the break-in period, when I ran 500 rounds of 230gr FMJ through. No probs at all feeding Ranger SXTs. And, just like on my Desert Warrior, the fixed sights were just dead on right out of the box. I use only Wilson Combat mags, and they've been perfect, without any of the potential for scarring that mags with a metal follower might have.
I really like having the Ultra as a primary carry. I'm just so confident that if I do my job, it will do the same. And hitting what you aim at, when you need to, is the point of the exercise, after all.
Sorry about aggravating the 1911 bug. There's really only one good thing to do about it -- let it run its course! Indulge yourself 'til you lose the urge!
