Here's my primary carry piece. Kimber Ultra CDP II in a Tucker Answer. It's backed up by a Kel-Tec P3AT in a pocket holster.

Hi, Carl. I'm here in San Antonio, too. Glad you've joined the forum. I'd be happy for you to join me at the range sometime. I shoot at the Bexar Community Shooting Range east of town on Trainer-Hale Road.

My 3" Kimber Ultra CDP II is an outstanding pistol, and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another. It's completely reliable, accurate, and surprisingly comfortable to shoot. My young bride finds it easier to handle than my full-size Kimber.

I bought 3 pairs of 5.11s before a trip to London last month. They're very comfortable and practical for travelling as well as for shooting. One thing I didn't notice before I bought them is that they have the option for a left or right handed mag pocket, so one pair of mine has the mag pocket on th...

The interesting dichotomy of the political spectrum: those are two reasons why I'm voting FOR him!

This is, of course, is why we have elections. Hurray, republic!

Tuckers for 1911

Well, here's my big box o' Tuckers. These photos, done quickly, do not truly do them justice. The workmanship is flawless, the utility and concealability are outstanding. Shown are the following: HF1s -- for Kimber Desert Warrior and Ultra CDP II. Matching gun belt and double mag pouch. The pattern ...

A vote for Kinky is a vote for Kinky, regardless of what either the Perry or Bell campaigns communicate to the contrary. The same, of course, is true of a vote for any of the candidates. The gubernatorial race is totally up for grabs this year, and could come down to a relatively small number of vot...

The FN is a dandy pistol. My young bride has the FN-P9, with which she can drive tacks! She impressed the instructors at her CHL qualification a couple of years ago with that one. There are excellent holsters available for the FN from some of the fine craftsmen out there. Tucker Gunleather has both ...

I use Wilson Combat mags in both my Kimbers (Desert Warrior and Ultra CDP II). Never a hiccup. I especially appreciate Wilson's use of the polymer follower for loading in the aluminum-framed CDP. I have acquired the low-profile base pads for the 47OXTs I use in the Ultra, my primary carry piece.

Depending on where you live, I'd suggest taking her to a good gun shop (such as Nagel's in San Antonio, or Shooter's Station in Conroe) and just let her try a number of options. A gun show, if there's one near you. The SAXET Gun Show is held in San Antonio the first weekend each month and has a huge...

Hi, Seadog. If you're still looking, I have a Brommeland Defcon for 5" 1911 that I'd be willing to sell for $85. It's never been worn. I've never used it because my Desert Warrior has the light rail, and so it won't fit, but for a standard 1911, it would be ideal. I was going to keep it in case...

Sorry about this, but I just have to aggravate the 1911 "bug" a bit more:
