Sounds like the lock actuator is going out. Pretty common on fords. If it's under warenty they should replace it. Sorry about your loss. It's a sucky feeling knowing someone got your things that easy. Hope they are recovered. As for the entry process. There's many types of ways to get in. Popping the cylender is an easy one for most but there are lockout kits and master key sets. Also something I've learned is fords keys are so closely made that there's a good chance yours fits someones you know or vice versa. They will do it all but start it.
