Re: 1911 Question about Grip Safety

Ho, ho, now, people. If I were a Prosecutor I'd be jumpin' up and down with glee. A gun used to kill someone had better be original with all original parts as it came from the factory or I'd sink you about modifying a weapon to make it more deadly. A carry firearm must be stock. Even little things t...

Re: What would you have done

Academy here just moved all their handgun ammo out on a counter that is not always in a salesman's view. It would be stone simple for someone to sneak in with their handgun and load it up out of sight. And if that were an irresponsible kid or angry person...

Re: Too Nice To Carry?

I turned a pretty gun into a commemorative. It was already too nice to carry , now it's just for show.

Stupid, Stupid and Stupid

A 20-year old man took a 9mm gun to a birthday party yesterday. A party where there was alcohol. He drank some of the alcohol. He shot his gun the air- several times. He got to talking with a small group and drew his gun again. He accidentally(???) fired the gun again - and took off the side of his ...

Ooh, Robert, murder and armed robbery are illegal. Now what? Really?

You missed a good one

Sat. Apr. 30 - Seven CHL holders got a taste of the training available from Instructor Daryl Smith in Victoria, TX. Smith showed methods of carry and several holsters and led a discussion about the pros and cons of each. He drilled us on safety and the safe methods of draw, holstering, mag changing ...

Re: Steel Target Question

I shoot at ratty 1/4 in. steel knock-down targets almost every week. People keep warning me about ricochet and splatter. I wear eye and ear protection. I usually come at the targets from 10 yards or so and approach from a small angle. I haven't noticed any fragments yet but I did at another range ju...

Re: S&W 642

It's nice to hold and points well. I bought a Hogue Monorip and that helped a lot. It disappears in an Uncle Mike's Sidekick ankle holster.
About 25 rounds are enough for an afternoon. You gotta change hands now and then.

Re: Shooting so called Dirty Ammo.. No problem if .......

Followup on shooting dirty ammo: I was closing in on the second box of Wolf 9mm steel when one of the rounds failed to extract and was so tight that the gun could not cycle. Having my carry piece in such a condition was unacceptable so I drove directly to my favorite gunshop and got some help. While...

Re: Inexperienced in Class

I like Teamless's attitude. I've seen careless and ill-handling at the range, and chided them about it. There are others wise enough to learn to shoot so they will have some knowledge and experience before arrive at CHL class. Let's remember that we all began from ignorance so let' s help each other...

CHL and no carry

I took the CHL class and training so I would have a legal right to carry. I've read here and there about reasons to carry and I'm convinced I should and do. Since then I've met and talked to a number of people who have a CHL and don't. All that time and expense and all those reasons to carry and the...

Re: Picking a small carry flashlight

I asked my favorite gun dealer for a light bright enough to blind a BG. He had a Pelican M6 LED. A little over five inches long, powered by two lithium batteries, it runs a one watt 5-volt LED very hard for about four hours, less so after that. Comes with a belt carry pouch that has a space for spar...

Re: Shooting so called Dirty Ammo.. No problem if .......

I took a chance on a deal for 500 rounds of Wolf brand ammo and ran off to the range with them. After two hundred rounds with no problem from three guns I figured that's good and came home. Cleaning too a little longer. The barrels were really grungy. A bore snake and Hoppe's #9 took care of that. C...
