Re: Shooting Range Newbie needs a bit of advice - Frisco Are

Thanks, that helps a bit. What kind of targets would I generally bring for Pistol shooting? I hate to make the 20+ mile drive and realize I forgot something I needed. Also, I read that some ranges don't allow FMJ...is this just in regards to rifles? I can't see it being a real issue in 9mm, but agai...

Shooting Range Newbie needs a bit of advice - Frisco Area

I grew up in rural Arizona...so shooting ranges are not something I am familiar with. I just purchased a XD9SC that I would like to shoot to become comfortable with, but I have no idea what I am doing when I go to a range. What is the procedure for a newbie like me? I am not super close to any that ...

Re: Why can't Texas do this?

Great discussion, and shows why I am confused. From my point of view, reciprocity for CHL/CWP is the same as reciprocity for a license to practice medicine or law.

Re: Why can't Texas do this?

I have a related question, as this thread came up in a search. I have a Utah CFP. Texas offers full reciprocity. Does this also apply to the rule about 1,000 feet and a school zone? I would have assumed so, as Texas has given me the right (via reciprocity) to lawfully carry within the state...but I ...

Re: A New Holster Source

After finding a link from this site to the Glock forum, I ordered a holster for my XD9SC from him this morning. I emailed him late last night asking about some particulars (I didn't want as much point on the bottom) and he responded very quickly. I ordered mine in black, with belt slots of OWB carry...

Re: Gun Safety Rules

I tested my kids last night. We have had airsoft guns for some time, so I handed them a pistol, to see what they would do. The Airsoft gun isn’t 100% realistic (hard to check the chamber on this design), but it pointed out that where they tended to put their finger was very much muscle memory…it wen...

If you tell everyone you are carry concealed...doesn't that constitute "Failure to Conceal"?

Re: Church Carry - Incorrect information from CHL instructor

That's a real shame. I know he won't be able to recover anything from this "instructor", but he can sure let him know that his gun was stolen from his vehicle as a result of his misinformation. Lay a guilt trip on him if that's possible. Maybe, just maybe, he'll start teaching the truth s...

Re: Gun Safety Rules

Just printed out the rules from the first post, one copy for each kid that can read, and one for my wife and I. I was VERY insistent that each read and memorize them. I will continue to be insistent on this, until each knows the rules. The kids too young to read will be coached with extra guidance. ...

Re: new to CC...how to Motorcycle carry?

I have various sized tank bags...4 of them in fact...but I generally use my hard mounted trunk since I sometimes have to carry a laptop to/from work...so I leave the tankbags for touring purposes.

Re: new to CC...how to Motorcycle carry?

All good comments and discussion so far! I appreciate the input on the motorcycle carry especially. I to received CPR training…first in Boy Scouts and then again as part of Life Guard training. I wasn’t much of a Boy Scout, and never actually had a lifeguard job, but the training stuck and I have ha...
