I used to get that from my missus as well. I talked about a few crimes close to where she was going (she used to sell class rings and athletic rings to colleges & universities), and it didn't take long before she stopped giving me the eye roll. Relating it to places and people she knows helped immensely.

She still doesn't really want to talk about it or think about it, but sometimes we'll go somewhere and she'll get to feeling a little antsy and ask me if I have it (usually at places like the mall or the theater). I always do (she also stopped the eye roll thing about the time she started this).

It took about a year to get her to this point, but it was very much worth it.Now if I could just get her to take a handgun along on her own...
