I sometimes have this issue when I'm cleaning mine, but since I keep a round in the chamber, I don't expect to need to cycle the slide in an emergency. I suppose it could happen, but as you noted, if you have a good grip on it, it doesn't seem to have that issue.packina40 wrote:That's built into the XD for sure, but I have to wonder why anyone would try to cycle the slide without first having a firm grasp on the grip anyway....govnor wrote:I don't always keep my XD locked and loaded at the house. Well, no problem normally. The other night I heard a noise and tried to pull back the slide on my gun. No dice. It stuck. Of course I thought what in the world is wrong with this gun, I just cleaned it!RHZig wrote:I don't see what there isn't to like about the grip safety?govnor wrote:I have come to extremely dislike the grip safety. I have a .40 XD. I also own a Glock. I shoot better with it and feel that it's a better gun. If I had to trust my life to a gun, it would be a Glock, bottom line.
I say go to a gun range and rent several guns and see what you shoot better with. Go with the one you shoot best with naturally. Life and death situation, you aren't going to be thinking rationally, it will be instinct.
I have shot a kimber with the grip safety and it works fine, in my experience.
After messing around with it for a minute or so, I realized you have to have the grip safety pressed to be able to bring the slide back and load a round. Not something you want to think about if you really need a round loaded. I'm too used to Glocks. They don't have that problem.
