My wife has her CHL, but won't carry. She went through the course with me, and she owns a few weapons herself. But she still doesn't get it.RHenriksen wrote: It's frustrating when those closest to you scorn your feelings &heart preferences to be prepared. I'm thankful that my wide kept such feelings to herself... and eventually wound up with a CHL & carries daily! I'd suggest keeping a calm, steady demeanor about the issue, and go on w your daily life w. EDC without making too big a deal about it. Avoiding a mall ninja vibe will eventually (I hope) start to discredit her 'paranoid' representation.
I guess you could always start sneering at her every time she fastens her seat belt, and calling her paranoid, too
Yesterday morning, I was getting dressed. We had a big day planned in San Antonio, but had a few things to finish around the house and in Boerne first. As I was putting on my King Tuck she said "You don't need that yet, we're not going to San Antonio till later" I told her I always carry. (she knows this) And she said, "Do you think you're going to get mugged in Boerne?" I told her that if I thought that I wouldn't go. But since I can't predict where trouble would be, I'd rather be prepared for it. She rolled her eyes and laughed, telling me I was paranoid. There have been a few times where the situation gets a little uncomfortable, that I've noticed my wife either putting the back of her hand where she knows I carry, or leaning against me to check to see if she can feel it. So I know she feels more comfortable with it there when the situation gets uncomfortable. But she doesn't grasp the fact that we can't predict with the situation gets hairy yet.
