Pistol performed flawlessly at the range today, nary a malfunction.
My 40 with 9 barrel also performed flawlessly. When I actually focused on my front sight, I was drilling the same hole. Yet another thing I need to work on . . .

Re: Range Report, new (?) M&P Shield 9mm
Thanks, but I'm aware of the issue, know how to diagnose it, have tested my pistol for the issue while sitting at the FFL when it arrived. My pistol was born on 07.19.2013.Teamless wrote:http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/ ... 7978_image
The recall says all Shields made before August 19, 2013, but then do you know when yours was made?
check out the link above, be sure you are safe!
Was supposed to go to the range today , but will try again tomorrow.

I don't think so. The trigger functions as designed.Teamless wrote:is this new Shield in the Recall batch?

Re: Range Report, new (?) M&P Shield 9mm
I got the new Shield a couple of days ago. I broke it down & cleaned it up. The wear is less significant IMO & it came drenched in oil. On this one, you can tell the the wear was "fresh". It has the same born on date as the previous pistol & the serial numbers are only 21 apart.
Now with better pictures! ;)
Sho' is purty!
Comparing my 45c with like 1300 rounds through it:

My XDS-45 goes just fine with my XDM-45 Compact 3.8 AND my Full-Sized M&P45 and my CRKT and Kershaw Tanto Blur knives. WE celebrate diversity in our gunsafe.
I applaud the patriotism, but the reality is just that we all buy foreign goods sometimes without even thinking about it.
FYI: my new pistol arrives next week. Per the dealer, her gunsmith, a certified S&W Armorer has inspected it & it "passed".

Re: Range Report, new (?) M&P Shield 9mm
Shield is boxed up & on my desk. I hope no one at work figures out an evil gun is at work!
I'm going to find a UPS store & get it on it's merry way at lunch.
Tom Hart has contacted me/seller for the FFL transfer. I'm all ready . . .
Now she has to carry her Bersa again when out.

Re: Range Report, new (?) M&P Shield 9mm
Update: The dealer is going to send me a shipping label so I'm not out any money on shipping nor do I have to have an FFL send it. I'm going to try to get Tom Hart to handle the FFL this time. Not only is it closer (ended up driving 90 mins! Denton to Burleson), it's $10 for CHL holders (hey! my 1st fringe benefit). I can live with $10 to think I'm getting an ACTUAL new pistol.

Re: Range Report, new (?) M&P Shield 9mm
I shot about 115 between me & my girl. The pictures I posted were BEFORE we went to the range.xb12s wrote:My M&P9 FS and M&P40c both looked like that pretty quickly. I can't guess how many rounds it took though -- 100? 250? I'll look at my Shield tonight. It's only been to the range twice yet so far.
How many rounds did you shoot in your range session? If you shot somewhere between 100 and 250 rounds, this could be totally normal wear IMO.

Re: Range Report, new (?) M&P Shield 9mm
The dealer said they would exchange it. It means I have to have an ffl send it, right? Regardless, I'm still out shipping & 1 more ffl receipt.OldCannon wrote:Is "they" the FFL? Re: Range Report, new (?) M&P Shield 9mm
Here is their response. I have not yet received pix from them:LAYGO wrote:I sent an email to the seller last night telling them this was not in "Brand New" condition. I am kind of worried about the FTEs I experienced, but won't really know until I get to the range again.
Test fire more than 1 round or full mags from both mags? I don't think my 3yo 45c has that much wear either, although I don't have pictures of it right now.I can assure you that it is a brand new gun, when it is test fired at the factory using both magazines. Smith and Wesson does a very thorough job of testing functionality before the guns leave the factory. When metal rubs against metal, wear will show. I will be sending you pictures of another brand new Shield that I just pulled off our shelf.
The serial on the box/pistol/test fire casing all match, it says 7/19/2013. Just seems excessive. If I experience anymore FTE, it's going back for sure.

It was a dealer. I've seen that they've sold like 10 others with the exact same ad.OldCannon wrote:If it was sold new by a dealer, contact S&W and they will take a look at it.
