Senate Bill 1581 has passed out of the House Appropriations Committee with Senator Wentworth's campus carry amendment still attached. And, as of this morning, SB 1581 has been placed on the major state calendar. This Wednesday, May 18th, the House is slotted to vote on this bill. After years of waiting, this is it: the Texas House of Representatives will FINALLY be casting a vote on the issue of campus carry.
However, the campus carry amendment is still at risk of being stripped by the opposition. To make sure this doesn’t happen, it is essential that you do the following (shouldn't take more than 2 minutes total):
1. Call or fax the office of Texas Speaker of the House Joe Straus, and ask him to support Senate Bill 1581 and work to ensure that Senator Wentworth’s campus carry amendment remains intact.
Speaker Joe Straus
Phone: (512) 463-1000
Fax: (512) 463-0675 (use FaxZero.com to send two free faxes per day from your web browser)
2. Contact YOUR Texas State Representative, and ask him or her to support Senate Bill 1581 and work to ensure that Senator Wentworth's campus carry amendment remains intact. You can look up your Texas State Representative here:

Thank you so much for your support! We wouldn't have made it this far without people like you.
