1. Dawn of the Dead (2004)
2. Zombieland
3. Shaun of the Dead
I suppose gthat you could classify the Resident Evil series as zombie movies, but as someone said they are more of a sci-fi action movie that has zombies and other neat monsters in them. Don't get me wrong, I love the RE series for what it is - but I can't take them seriously like Dawn of the Dead. Also.... Milla Jovovich

The Walking Dead is a great series so far. Having read the graphics novels, the show follows in its footsteps pretty closely. While it is about the zombie apocalypse, is actually more meant to be about how folks cope with dire circumstances and what they have to do to survive. Henceforth, you wont see the same amount of action from the show as say, Zombieland. I do wish that someone would make another zombie film in the style of the Dawn of the Dead remake - that is generally serious in nature and great about the action. Still waiting for that.
Lastly, while I know it isn't a movie or a television show, I just have to mention two video games. The Resident Evil series is, in my humble opinion, survival horror at is core. The newer games have somewhat gotten more away from the roots if the franchise though. Secondly, for multiplayer action, the Left 4 Dead series is awesome! Its fast paced frantic gameplay that demands you work with your team to survive. Plenty of zombie hordes and creatures to "send back to the underworld" too! Fun stuff.
