Pulled back the slide. THe gun went off with the eject port open.

I took it to a gunsmith. Moral of the story check your gun for mechanical defects
and don't assume anything. I was neglient for not checking a used gun before firing.
Lucky no body hurt
The firing pin on the SKS I bought from Cabella's was jammed forward and so caked with cosmoline that it took me an hour or so to work it loose. It works fine now after just a thorough cleaning of the bolt assembly, but if I had tried to chamber a round without doing that first I would've slam fired my way through the whole magazine.
