MasterOfNone wrote:I suspect his whole appearance on the show was a business move. Reality shows seem to be a launching pad for some "celebrity" types. And who do people remember the most from such shows? The bad guy. I bet that was Jake's plan the entire time - to make himself famous. Now he is, and he can make money off it.
Heh, could be, yeah. My reputation is worth more to me than a job, but I guess he could need the money more than I do.

Yeah, I was pulling for Dustin or Mike; more so Dustin, because being "the nice guy" is something I strive for, and you usually don't see them come out on top. And Mike was called Zombie... you've gotta root for someone called Zombie...
Im glad to see that overall the competitors this season were more honorable (jake excluded ) than last season. Let's hope that next season rocks even harder!
Me too (though I must admit that George's actions in that game of horse changed the first thing that pops into my head whenever someone mentions him).

Everbody I know who would have loved the last show quit watching a long time ago because of Jake and the drama. If ever show had been like tonights' they would have had a bunch more gun folks watching.
Yeah many folks I know who watch seemed to loose interest due to Jake and stop watching.
I stuck it out and was rewarded with seeing Jake leave like a spoiled little boy who didn't get things his way ("I'm taking my ball and going home!").
Yep. It's a lot easier to ignore the drama when you can fast-forward through it all. If my roommate didn't have a TiVo, Jake might've been too much.
Once he was gone, nothing but great guys and shooters were left and the nicest seeming and obviously most talented took it home.
Yep

Oh he doesn't bother me at all. I just think the accent thing is kinda funny sometimes.

And funny, since it's filmed in Santa Clarita, CA.

I'm holding out hope for Jake saying, "To heck with you guys, I'm going home"

Of course that won't be it since the teaser was kinda hinting that way, but a man can still dream...

Re: Top Shot 3

puma guy wrote:He is totally unsportsmanlike and I can't imagine him being a coach. If that's his style I would work to get him fired or remove my child from his influence immediately.
Is this really his normal style, though? He's claiming everything you see is "calculated" to get him to win. So early on in the show when he was so bad at getting his team to effectively use the practice time, was that poor leadership, or him thinking that he knew what he was doing and trying to ensure that everyone else did worse than him? If it's the former, I don't think he could be a good coach because he lacks anything even approaching good leadership. If it's the latter, then I have to ask, "has the large cash prize kept him from seeing this as a sporting event"? If not, I don't want him as a coach because he has a complete lack of sportsmanship. If that is the case, I personally don't want him as a coach because I think that being willing to behave that poorly just to get $100k demonstrates poor character, but I can see how someone who's a bit cynical and has had a harder life than I have could view his actions as perfectly reasonable.

In summary, :iagree: , but I only think he's had 2.5 strikes instead of 3. (I don't hold out much hope for that last 0.5, though.)

The teaser for next week's episode implies that something happens with him. Of course, it's the teaser's job to be dramatic and all, so maybe Jake will order a pizza or something.

Regarding his behavior, I get that he wants to win and all, but my word... I've never seen such unsportsmanlike conduct.

Me too, actually, but I'll be happy as long as it isn't Jake.

The thing I don't get is that he's a high school coach... It seems to me like he's spent the past month smack-talking his way out of a job. Not only is he setting a poor example for his students, but he is, IMHO, demonstrating poor leadership as well.

If Sara Ahrens is to be believed, Jake set himself up for automatic advancement by stating early on to the Blue Team that he would go to elimination, win it, and come back and throw every succeeding challenge if he were ever voted to the elimination round.
I heard that, too. Personally, if I was there, my reaction would be to vote for him to go to elimination ever chance I had until he was gone.

You ain't alone with that thought.
The rolling cannon one wouldn't take up too much space. There's probably room for it at any of the ranges with tactical training bays.
But where would we put the trail for horse carriage/truck riding and gunning. Or the crane for falling and shooting. Ahh heck, there ain't enough land for me to set up all the cool stuff I've seen and come up with to shoot at. :coolgleamA:
The horse 'n' buggy one would take up a fair bit of space, but the crane's footprint wouldn't be too big. The problem with that one is you're giving some random person a bird's eye view of all the surrounding building and gun to shoot them with. I'm not too worried about it myself, but you know some of the neighbors would be, so unless you're surrounded by farmland, you'd need to buy up a lot of the surrounding area just to keep the locals from getting nervous.

Most of the challenges look like they'd take up about a large backyard's worth of space, not including a backstop. If you wanted them all out at the same time, though, then yeah that would take a huge amount of land. You'd need a fair sized staff, too.
