Re: TSA and venues other than airports
The Washington Times says the TSA is at it again... Linky (I think some of the comments might be NSFW)

Academically, sure, but they're probably shielded. Plus, I don't think it's worth the effort. It'll just get you arrested and they'll step up their efforts. Legal means FTW!The Annoyed Man wrote:An EMP maybe?tbrown wrote:I wonder what a massive power surge could do. For academic purposes only.sjfcontrol wrote:WOW. Kinda gives a whole new meaning to "suicide bomber"!jordanmills wrote:I wish someone would damage those scanners. The TSA didn't purchase maintenance contracts on them, and congress has already blocked additional funding for them. So when a machine dies, it's dead.snorri wrote:I forgot to consider property damage.

Re: TSA and venues other than airports
They already allow exceptions for people who receive above a certain dose of radiation, and I keep reading these studies about how cell phones are irradiating our heads, so maybe I can show them my cell phone bill and get a pass?terryg wrote:My concern with the current special session bill is that there is no mention of the nudie scanners. Originally, IIRC, there was an anti pat down bill and an anti nudie scanner bill. f it were to pass, could the TSA not simply say: "Ok fine, no more opting out of the scanners - everybody must go through ..."?
(tongue only partially in cheek, because I haven't compared the numbers yet)

Re: TSA and venues other than airports
That's not the point... If there's a park ranger trying to search me as I go into Kroger, I'll be asking him when Plano became federal park lands. Even though I disagree with it, I can understand the Transportation Security Administration claiming jurisdiction over busses and trains because those are both forms of public transportation. A high school prom is not a form of public transportation, so they should have about as much authority as a Zimbabwean Horse Inspector. The question is not where they get their funding from, but where they get the authority to do anything at a prom.JoeS3 wrote:It's more unnecessary government spending by the Obama administration.Dave2 wrote:High School proms? Really?!? How are they justifying that one?mamabearCali wrote:Well it is not so hypothetical now...they are going to bus stations, train stations, metro stations, and High School Proms apparently.
