I must agree Glocks are fine/reliable weapons straight out of the box but I do believe there are certain tried and true upgrades that will not fail IMHO. I would stick with the upgrades that have been proven to be reliable and prove them to be reliable yourself. Honestly though you already know that so... Goodluck with your customization, as I saw in another thread the awesome stippling job you did yourself.
