Is there an NRA website that posts where the Basic Instructor Training (BIT) courses are being held? (I can only seem to find the follow up courses on the NRA website)
Follow up question: is there an additional class that one would take to be certified to teach a CHL certification class?

Situation dissolved....now what?
Assume you find yourself being the target of a mugging in a parking garage. You're being threatened by a single individual with a large knife aggressively walking towards you. His intentions made clear, you are able to draw your weapon point it at the mugger. Seeing you weren't as easy of a target a...

Re: Question for Certified Firearms Instructors
Pretty close. Perhaps what I'm trying to say is, When you become certified (in any of the NRA, FBI etc schools) What are you now legally allowed to do as far as teaching that you couldn't legally do before? I'm all for helping people understand and safely use firearms, but I'm trying to understand i...

Question for Certified Firearms Instructors
A friend of mine in my IDPA group told me of a CFI class being taught locally that he's going to take and suggested I sign up to get the group rate price. He is a shooting tactics teacher so my question is:
How does getting a CFI affect your privileges in teaching that you would normally not have?

My first match: IDPA/IPSC Hybrid holiday shoot.
On Sunday, the thunder tactical shooters group held a hybrid match at thunder gun range. The hybrid match used IDPA scoring with IPSC rules. Having never shot IPSC, I was stoked to find an overall lack of restrictions. One shooter equated IPSC to being a mind puzzle versus IDPA which reduces the nee...

Re: Looking for a good pocket gun
I have a Ruger Lcp w/ crimson trace and a NAA .22lr with folding grip. I love both and recommend them. Sputz One of my friends let me shoot his LCP. The insanely small size and lightweight make it difficult to control since getting a good grip is difficult. Scandium J-framed .357 revolver. preferin...

Re: Whats your "excuse"?
I can't think of an instance where any individual would approach someone they assume to be armed ans ask them if they are carrying. Even a fellow CHL holder would probably either not bother, or find some subtle way to suggest they need to cover up. Ha! I can't think of many people in mine or my hus...

Looking for a good pocket gun
There are a few instances, where I've found taking one of my fullsize pistols is just not pratical. Outdoor sports, or enviornments that don't support good concealment are some examples. I'm looking for small gun that still fires 9mm. Ideally, somthing like a sig 232 would be perfect, but I'm not a ...

Re: Concealing in workout clothes
I would think jogging in a hot/warm climate is one of those instances where carrying a pocket gun is your only option....unless you want to ditch the gun entirely and take a fixed-blade knife or other lighter weapon. I would prefer one of those shirt type holsters like the ones shown here: http://ww...

Re: Whats your "excuse"?
If a pretty girl asks... "I'm happy to see you :)" If anyone else asks: It's an essential metical instrument .....for inducing hemorrhaging I can't think of an instance where any individual would approach someone they assume to be armed ans ask them if they are carrying. Even a fellow CHL ...

Suspicious Street Encounter: true story.
While at an IDPA meet, a fellow shooter (I don't remember his name so we'll call him John) described an instance that i couldn't come up with a solution to: A suspicious individual with his hands in his overcoat approached John and his wife on the street. John assumed a defensive posture and ordered...
