Some are quite nice right out of the box while others were like a box of rocks and felt about +2 lbs heavier. Maybe a rough one would smooth out in time, but for that reason alone I would buy from a dealer where I could handle and choose the one that would go home with me; paying $30 more is a lot less expensive than a trigger job! Have been lusting after one to replace my Kahr P380 but I need to sell it first. (BTW, they do make variants of the 238 with Ambi safeties. The Scorpoin version has them and I think 2 others as well.) But, with the 938 now out now and so close in size to the 238, it just begs the question - why in the world would anyone ever buy a 238???
I did a trigger job on my 238 and brought the pull down from 10.5 pounds to 4. Cost me nothing. Just rebent the trigger spring and polished the connections.
