Re: Taurus TCP FTE
Time for me to eat my words. I had the FTE problem on my second magazine this last range trip. I called Taurus and they were very helpful in getting the gun overnighted to their repair facility. I sent it out today, so we shall see how the repair process progresses. Hopefully I will receive a pistol in good working order. I guess it is better to admit my error in assuming the problem was resolved then to be let down in a life threatening situation.

Taurus TCP FTE
If you have a Taurus TCP that is having problems extracting, I have some pointers that might be of some help.
1. Move your hand higher on the grip. I know this looks a little scary with that sharp cornered slide reciprocating just millimeters from the soft web of your hand, but the closer you get to that pseudo-beavertail the less you may have this problem. It has worked well for me.
2. Don't limp wrist it. I have pretty good upper body strength, but this gun is just hard to shoot for any extended amount of time. After the first 15-20 rounds you will probably be feeling the pain and unconsciously start to soften your grip.
3. Break your magazines in a little more. I have noticed that some of the problems come from the next round trying to scoot into the chamber too early. I noticed this when the last round in each magazine ALWAYS extracted correctly. If you are getting continuous strings of FTEs, taking the magazine out and only loading a single round should produce a correct extraction for that single shot. Breaking the mag spring in should lessen this problem.
I have finally arrived at the point where I trust my TCP to work correctly for its intended purpose. The first two magazines work 100% on all shots every time I take it to the range. I doubt I will ever get more than 12 shots off in a SD situation (outside my home) anyway.
