Re: Whole Foods Gun Policy
Very thoughtful reply Annoyed Man. I agree with you 100%. I never said she teased me in public. The teasing doesn't come often and it's always a private poke in the ribs,... with a smile. We've been together now for 4 years come this New Years Eve. I don't see an end in sight nor do I see the beginn...

Re: Whole Foods Gun Policy
Sorry. It's been a while since I checked on this thread. The last few posts look like kind of counter-thoughts to the "demonizing of women who don't have the exact same thoughts as you". As the OP, it seemed to me that my girlfriend was not suggesting that we not shop at Whole Foods becaus...

Re: Whole Foods Gun Policy
Thanks for all the great feedback on this subject. Just to let the GF bashers know, the relationship is quite wonderful and well worth a little teasing about some of the things I do. She's quite a wonderful woman and we're able to get along quite well in spite of a few differences in opinion. I just...

Re: Whole Foods Gun Policy
Is she uncomfortable with the idea of your carrying a gun? She thinks it's unnecessary. She keeps saying she has lived in some pretty scary places abroad just fine without a gun and the US is way safer than those places. I agree that the US is a pretty safe place, but then I say, "Complacency ...

Whole Foods Gun Policy
I went to Whole Foods today. My girlfriend knows I carry and she was quick to point out the words "No Firearms" on the door as we entered. I told her it wasn't the correct format or verbiage so it did not apply to LICENSED carriers. Of course it didn't stop there. She kept pushing, saying ...

Re: August 2010 Applications
I'm official. Got my plastic on 9/11. Did not do "official" wally walk, but I did do a good deal of concealed carrying in public over the weekend. My girlfriend was my spotter and subsequent heckler for my first days out in public while carrying. And now here I am, at the office, where the...

Re: August 2010 Applications
Don't know where you are located but there is a gun show in Conroe at the Lone Star Convention Center. Thanks for the info. We sometimes like to stay at a B&B in Montgomery for a quite weekend away from the city. However, we just got back from vacation and we're both looking forward to a nice w...

Re: August 2010 Applications
:clapping: :woohoo :hurry: :thewave :cheers2: Looks like it's down to the USPS now. My status changed to "Mailed" today. I need to get on the ball and figure out what and how I'm going to carry. I wish there was a gun show in town this weekend so I could actually try on some of the holster...

Re: August 2010 Applications
Seems like the DPS is really crankin'em out. My status changed to "Manufacturing" yesterday. :woohoo Woohoo!!! is right! I was really expecting mine to take an extra long time, but it seems to be keeping time with everyone else this month. 07/31/2010: CHL Class 08/09/2010: Mailed to DPS 08...

Re: I spotted one!...
Just doing a little math... I seem to recall that Texas just recently issued their 400,000th CHL. The population of Texas is approximately 26 million. The math says that just over 1.5% of Texans are license to carry. So, considering that not all CHL holders are carrying and not all carriers are CHL...

Re: August 2010 Applications
Status went to mailed today! I hope all others in the August waiting room have a similar turn-around. I'm pleased, and a bit surprised. I think all of us with these faster than normal turn arounds have been surprised. I was fully expecting 60+ days because of all the horror stories I had read on he...

http://img34.imagevenue.com/loc562/th_43590_30_06_122_562lo.jpg NO YOU CANNOT CARRY This is a .30-06 Sign. Don't ignore it. I went to Six Flags this weekend. They had a sign kinda like this one except half of the text (both English and Spanish) was in a red colored font (I wish I had taken a pictur...

Re: Trouble Hitting The Target - GRRR!!!
:tiphat: Thanks to everyone for the feedback and insightful input. The general consensus is that I should get a teacher or a coach. I totally agree with that. Other suggestions where: * keep accuracy as priority one and build speed while maintaining accuracy * maintain site picture all the way throu...

Re: Trouble Hitting The Target - GRRR!!!
Where are you located? I'm not an expert, but may be able to recommend one. I live in Austin and I usually go to Red's Indoor Range (north) to practice. I think a coach/instructor is an excellent suggestion and I like to find someone who is very good at it, but will cost me less than $100 per hour....
