and I'd think the girl's parents would like to know where she's going and with whom; especially, if she's still living at home and off her parents.

You'd be surprised how some parents-of-daughters act. I've had parents drop their girls off at my house for a study session or pool party (I have a teenage boy) never having met me or my son, not knowing if either of his parents were at home or what was planned. Pull up to the curb, open the door, call me when you're ready to get picked up.
16 year olds weren't that innocent when these people were kids, I can't imagine what's in their minds ... if anything.
