I personally think that 50% is low. They have now removed the 'bereavement clause' from diagnosis of depression.

It used to be that a person who is grieving the recent death of a close family member was not considered clinically depressed unless they exhibited severe symptoms. Now, a person could walk away with a diagnosis of clinical depression because they're distracted and unable to sleep a mere month after losing a parent, spouse, or child.

sigh.
