Re: Officer Invades Apartment, Shoots Resident
Brown had no criminal history, nothing stolen, "no suspects or motives"... beyond the obvious. Once again Dallas makes international news. No matter what anyone says, truthfully DPD's reputation is taking a dramatic turn for the worse here. Whoever murdered Brown deserves a lot more than 10 years.philip964 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2019 6:37 pm https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... -says.html

Combine those posts with her testimony about how she was shooting to kill and sentencing is looking bad for her.03Lightningrocks wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2019 4:07 pm They are in the sentencing phases and the DA has used a couple of her social media posts that make her look like she was looking to kill. The two that caught my attention were memes talking about shooting to kill. Makes me think about how social media has changed the world. Best be mindful of what you say out on the interweb. You just never know how it may come back at you one day. She probably thought nothing of posting the memes when she did it. Now it is being used against her to establish a state of mind. She was trying to delete all of them just after the shooting.

In some parts of the world law enforcement credentials are a license to kill. All of this evidence supports the argument that Amber thought she had a license to kill. Only now is she learning she didn't.
What an embarrassment. At the very least DPD needs to review their hiring procedures.

Re: Officer Invades Apartment, Shoots Resident
Agree completely. I think its a point that is vital for all of us to have a very firm understanding of.The Annoyed Man wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2019 3:36 pm I think she made a fatal error during her testimony. The prosecutor asked her if, when she fired at the victim, did she intend to kill him....and she answered unequivocally, "yes". He immediately repeated the question, as if he couldn’t believe her affirmative answer, and the second time, she answered, "yes, to stop the threat" .... implying that she did intend to kill him to stop the threat. BAD answer. She must have been very flustered on the witness stand.
The answer that would have done less damage, would have been to answer the FIRST time, "no, I did not intend to kill him. I intended to stop the threat"; and repeat that answer if asked it again. I was really surprised when she answered the way she did.
But, it seemed likely that she would be convicted, and probably rightly so....

But I did hear that quote from the Texas Ranger. IIRC, he not only said that she acted reasonably, but also that no crime was committed (in his opinion).
Don't know why the judge did not allow it, but also not sure why the Ranger thinks that would not be a crime of some kind, to kill someone minding their own business in their own home by someone else who had no reason or right to be there at all. So how does the Ranger think it's supposed to work then? You just say "oops, sorry. My bad." Then everybody goes home at the end of the day (well, except for the innocent dead guy, of course)?

Amber Guyger Patrol Partner Testifies About Racy Texts The Night Of Deadly Shooting
She didn't sound tired at all in her texts. Is it not a crime to illegally enter someone's home, even by mistake?
Amber's attorney is getting paid to say this:
If Amber is found innocent of all charges, this would allow police to "mistakenly" enter anyone's home, shoot them dead, and get away with it. Does anyone of us want to live in that world?

But it's hard to imagine an unarmed guy, stoned, at a distance of 15-30 feet would be any kind of real threat to a police officer with a gun in her hand.“Amber Guyger firmly and reasonably believed she was in her own apartment,” said Rodgers. “Amber Guyger firmly and reasonably believed that she had confronted an intruder in her apartment. From the limited facts that have been made available to the public, I concur with the grand jury's decision. Would love to know the rest of the story.

Looks like the election went badly for Amber:

Newly Elected Dallas DA Wants to Charge Amber Guyger With Murder
Creuzot, a former judge who retired from the bench in 2012, told NBC that anything less than a murder charge for Guyger deviates from Dallas County precedent.
“I don’t know any police reports. I don’t know any forensic reports, but based on what I have seen, manslaughter is an inappropriate charge, based on the circumstances as I understand them,” he said. “Once I get in there and I get everything in front of me and it appears the most appropriate charge is murder, then that’s the charge we will go forward with.
...
In the meantime, Johnson told Fox 4 that she is determined to take the Guyger case to the grand jury.
“We are still proceeding with that case. And by the way, that case is going to the grand jury very soon,” she said. “I want the opportunity to bring the indictment. It happened under my watch, and I think that’s very significant that I take this case to the grand jury.”

Re: Officer Invades Apartment, Shoots Resident
We have no evidence that Guyger's apartment or vehicle was searched. 911 call recording has not been released. Botham's tox report is irrelevant, and autopsy report likely showing that the fatal gunshot wound was inflicted at close range has not been released. This incident is/was an international story and if newsone.com is the only source that will cover it, there is a legacy media failure here as well.Jose_in_Dallas wrote: ↑Wed Oct 10, 2018 12:25 pmFrom what I've read and understand, no search warrant was issue for Guyger's apartment because she gave them permission to do so (hence no search warrant). And as far as the toxicology, I don't believe that will be made public until after the trial (where's Botham Jean's toxicology?).Paladin wrote: ↑Wed Oct 10, 2018 12:00 pm Since it's been over a month I was thinking about this and found some articles: After Five Search Warrants, Amber Guyger’s Apartment Was Reportedly Never Searched
Where Is Amber Guyger’s Toxicology Report?
Considering the source of your article, I'm not suprised by the bias.
This is not "fact" but makes sense as to what happened regarding a search warrant for Guyger's apartment.

Was Guyger's apartment searched?
Authorities have not said whether Guyger's apartment or vehicle were searched. A search warrant would not have been necessary if officials obtained consent to search her apartment at the South Side Flats.

Re: Officer Invades Apartment, Shoots Resident
NY TimesThe authorities took a blood sample from Officer Guyger to test for drugs and alcohol, but the results have not been released.
Having personally experienced a drunk trying to force entry into my hotel room several years ago, I have to wonder what the motive is for not releasing these test results in a timely manner.
