More bombshells from Durham on Wednesday, where he told the House Judiciary Committee that the CIA knew that Hillary Clinton approved a plan to smear then-candidate Donald Trump with Russia allegations in order to distract from her classified email scandal, and that the FBI did not "sufficiently scrutinize information it received," nor "apply the same standards to allegations it received about the Clinton and Trump campaigns."

Russiagate was a fraud initiated by the Clinton campaign and abetted by political reporters in Washington and senior FBI officials who chose to look the other way.

I was told that there was tension and frustration over Durham’s initial lack of interest, or reluctance, to go beyond his investigative mandate and look closely at the possibility that some senior FBI officials had openly joined ranks with the Clinton campaign, with its drumbeat of spurious allegations, because, in some cases, of a shared belief in the importance of a Clinton victory in the fall election. Another factor, I was told, was the possibility of promotions—even to high-level Justice Department offices—in a potential Clinton administration.

Durham, to his credit, did follow the leads that came to his office, but he left them in secrecy—perhaps in the Classified Appendix or perhaps completely off the record.

now, after a 3 1/2-year wait, special counsel Durham’s report finally sheds light on the details of the dispute.

In what is arguably the most important sentence of the entire 308-page report, Durham states that “According to [Alexander] Downer, Papadopoulos made no mention of Clinton emails, dirt or any specific approach by the Russian government to the Trump campaign team with an offer or suggestion of providing assistance.”

In one sentence, Durham crushed the FBI’s justification for the bureau’s Crossfire Hurricane investigation. There was no mention of Clinton’s emails, no mention of any dirt, and neither was there any mention of an offer from Russia. The official narrative, which the FBI not only used to open the investigation but also used to obtain FISA warrants on Trump campaign aide Carter Page, to push Acting Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to appoint a special counsel, and to pressure Congress into investigating Trump, was plain false.

Notably, the FBI also pushed its false story about Papadopoulos spilling the beans on Russia collusion during a drunken encounter at a London bar to the media
