When I took my CHL class, the instructor said that fists alone were never justification to use deadly force. I don't know whether that's true or not (he told us some other things that turned out to be incorrect), but that's what he said.

Having said that, I don't think many juries in Texas would convict you for pulling a weapon in such a situation, even if a grand jury indicted you for it, and even that's a big IF.
