I think she's the sole Democrat among Florida's statewide officeholders. Yeah, she's running for governor.
I don't know how it works in Florida but is the Ag Commissioner responsible for CHL permits? That seems odd.

Re: Dem lawmakers fleeing Texas
So one of the fleeing Democrats, Philip Cortez, returned to Texas to "improve the bill" and had direct talks with Republican leadership - and then went back to DC. Why wasn't he arrested when he arrived and why wasn't he arrested before he could leave Texas again? Seems our Republican lea...

Re: New Suppressor Law = No Good
I contacted a suppressor manufacturer. They said the new Texas law changes nothing because FFL's and SOT's still have to follow federal law. So, I suppose you could legally make your own suppressor, but you're not going to get around the ATF form or the $200 by going to the store and buying a suppr...

I assume you're referring to the darkish cylinder shaped things to the left of the tree but for the life of me I can't make out anything definitive one way or the other. Am I missing something?

Re: TX: Sutherland Springs church 26 dead 20 injured in mass shooting
Wait... I’m confused.... srothstein, are you saying that if the buyer were federally qualified to make that purchase in either state, he could have lawfully bought the gun in Texas with a Colorado DL? For instance, since I’m legally able to buy an AR15 in Texas, I could also legally buy one FTF fro...

Re: Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick attacks NRA and Supports expanded background checks
I hear you but man, Patrick had always struck me as one of the hard core good guys. He relished getting in the faces of the left and calling out their nonsense. I don't get this one. Abbott seems to be waffling too. This is real bad. I swallowed hard on the bump stock ban but you can't rationalize t...

Re: Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick attacks NRA and Supports expanded background checks
Then the gun can be exchanged and the deal is closed. This is NOT a ban on private gun sales and this change in the law will NOT lead to a gun registry. If you believe that, I have ocean front property to sell you in Arizona. This. A registry is the entire point. Not a single mass shooting other th...

Re: Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick attacks NRA and Supports expanded background checks
This will turn Texas blue, and if Trump falls for it at the national level he and the national GOP are done, too. Sorry, this is the breaking point for me. I've tolerated the decades of equivocation on open carry, constitutional carry, and many other things because I realized the alternative was thi...

Re: Beto visits gun show in Little Rock.
NO! Private intrastate sales/transfers should not be forced through NICS or FFL or any other federal "one size fits all" solution, whether at a Gun Show out of the back of a pickup truck, or grandpa giving me his WWII bringback Luger. For one, because it is unconstitutional federal intrus...

Re: Beto visits gun show in Little Rock.
Are you suggesting that anyone can call the NICS and demand that a third party be placed on the list? I completely agree that the scope of background checks hasn't been a factor in mass shootings, but the failure of the NICS system to recognize meaningful and disqualifying mental illness has been a...

Re: Beto visits gun show in Little Rock.
I'm also fairly intolerant of people who want to hide behind the (very important) private sales exception to essentially run a business because my neighbor's dad growing up was an FFL. He kept it up as a side for his regular business, but it was mostly a service for friends and family to get firear...

Re: Beto visits gun show in Little Rock.
The gun seller said he would support a requirement that gun-show sellers like him get a federal firearms license. What does he mean "would support a requirement"? Does he mean that he would begin obeying the current laws if a new one were passed? If the ATF doesn't care now, why would the...

Re: Beto visits gun show in Little Rock.
The in the business of selling guns standard is reasonable, except that gun shows all have an ATF presence for running NICS checks. I'm not a big participant in gun shows, but my understanding is that selling off of your table with no NICS check in Texas essentially does not happen. That is not cor...
