I agree with you, but only for shooting from a bench. I pretty much always use a 20 round mag for that. In any other situation, I'll take the extra 10 rounds, please.
It's like they say, unless your swimming, there's no such thing as too much ammunition. I would prefer to have a couple extra mags. At the same time though, I find it a huge stretch to imagine a situation where an AR would be my choice for a defensive weapon, and needing more than a handful of rounds. A siege maybe?

At any rate, I don't want to make a case for the banners and common sensers. I'm just talking about my personal preferences.

20 rnd Mags were considered huge back then The M16 was garbage back in its early days but, I don't remember the magazines being much of an issue. , I'm not sure the 30rnd is an improvement, at least for non military combat situations. Fact is a 30 rd magazine for an AR is the "standard" capacity for the gun. It was the standard when it was developed. It has a greater capacity than the magazine for a 10/22 or whatever but it isn't "high capacity". It's the original standard for the gun. A standard capacity magazine.
I accept that the. 30 end mag has become the standard, but it is my understanding that they were originally designed and issues with 20 end mags.

Personally I prefer the 20 rounders, but that is irrelevant.

There is no such thing as “reverse political correctness”. It is "Political Correctness", Just as "reverse discrimination" is just plain old discrimination. I refer to my AR an "assault style rifle". It looks like a millitary weapon, pretty much shoots like a modern millitary style weapon and is capabable of being used in a millitary type assault (ie: no-knock or SWAT raids). I am not apologetic of the fact. A 30 rnd Mag is a high capacity magazine by almost any standard. While maybe for an AR15 10 or 15 round capacity coulds be considered lower or limmited capacity. The original intent of Stoners AR was to produce a high capacity personal weapon.

The original M16 was a selective fire 5.56mm rifle with a 20-round magazine. To my mind anything smaller would be a limmited capacity, anything larger is a high capacity, 20 rnd is standard capacity. YMMV.

At any rate it won't hurt to be forgiving of the language we use, and don't have to condemn those using high capacity clips in their assault weapons. The intended meaning is still clear.

Beat me to it - I was just about to ask the same question.
I don't know but things like me this is why we desperately need the reciprocity bill passed soon.

Ammunition is completely banned in MA? Or only brass cases. ;-)
Not completely banned if you get the right government permit. Primers, bullets, and brass components are considered ammunition as well as the completed cartridge. Being unlicensed and in possession of an empty mag is also a criminal offense.
