The killier is dead he won't be prosecuted. There are two reasons the government operates in secrecy.

Information is power. Once it's shared the value is lost.

There is money at stake. Mandelay Bay has deep pockets, People screwed up and the more information that gets out the more vulnerable they are. Vegas and the feds takes care of the big guys and not the losers that have the suits

I doubt that he bought a legitimate NFA item. Too much of a paper trail, could have found an underground gunsmith though.

The Security kept people fenced and locked up. They couldn't escape. Was literally like shooting fish in a barrel.
