The Salvation Army was out there actually looking for folks to help. Making sure that folks had something to eat, and drink. I had a couple of incidents with faith based groups, and they did more than feed and water us. They made us feel like someone really cared and provided a real lift. I believe I posted about one such incident here before, I also blogged on it. While FEMA and non sectarian groups like the the Red Cross are essential and are a big help. The faith based groups are the ones that really do lift the heart and soul in roughest times.ea40ss wrote:The Salvation Army hit the ground running in Galveston after Hurricane Ike. They were all over the Island with their mobil kitchens serving up hot meals to anyone who wanted one. I believe for free. Their store on Broadway was swamped but they are in the process of renovating it. They do good things and deserve donations regardless of this policy on marriage. imho
Thanks,
