It wasn't that long ago I was thinking the same thing about open carry, and unlicensed open carry. In fact, I once thought I would never see the day I could walk into a store and pick up a new AR15.WildRose wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2019 6:42 pmI don't see that ever happening.rtschl wrote: ↑Sun Oct 07, 2018 11:28 pm
Not necessarily correct. Both the Benbrook and White Settlement police departments are posted. They both use the reason that they have a "court" in the window where bond/fines are paid to the city court clerk. What needs to solve this is removing all off limit areas for LTC and make carry the same for LTC and police.

Re: Cities improperly posting 30.06 signs?
You can drive pass the gate and inside the fence of an oil and chemical plant, as long as there is no 30.06 sign or have recieved legal verbal/written notification.OldAg wrote: Another example that you referenced would be the chemical plants on the south side of the city. You could keep a weapon locked in your personal vehicle as long as it was outside of the security fence. If you were to drive into the plant with your weapon, not only could you be fired (as all the companies have it against their policies) but, you also could be arrested since the secured area of a chemical plant is spelled out as a prohibited area in the State statutes.
Hope this helps.

Re: Cities improperly posting 30.06 signs?
While the sign has no legal bearing, there is no winning an arguement with LEO on things like this. Even when you win you lose time and money. If one carries in such places they should realize that the Police may not be their friends.phray wrote:This sign is posted on the front door of the Longview Police Department. Sorry about the quality, I only had my cellphone on me.
The sign reads:Possession of a firearm
(Including Concealed Handguns)
is prohibited in this building.
Violators will be prosecuted.

Charles mentioned a while back opening an open records accounting on how they decided to post the sign. I don't know what means or how it helps though

I'm glad to see they are picking on 1911s, and leaving the Berettas alone.

I would tell the oficer "I did not notice the sign. I probably would have noticed if the sign was of proper dimensions." LEOs know that signs of all kinds must meet certain standards. Blocked stop signs or trafic signs of the wrong shape or size aren't valid eitherAbraham wrote:And if we ignore the intent of these signs, how high is the percentage we'll be hauled off to jail with the officer telling us to tell it to the judge?
Yeah, when it's not a perfect example of what a 30.06 sign should be, how will that help when your weapon is confiscated and you're in deep doo?
I think a lot of LEO's would laugh themselves silly when you argue the size of letters etc. not being correct therefore you can ignore the sign.
Or, am I wrong?

Re: Intent of 30.06 signs
There are schools, public meetings, courtrooms, jails and prisons.JLaw wrote:keb wrote:Do I understand this correctly, that if a governmental entity posts a 30.06 it has no bearing on a CHL holder?Texas Penal Code wrote: § 30.06. TRESPASS BY HOLDER OF LICENSE TO CARRY CONCEALED

(e) It is an exception to the application of this section

other place on which the license holder is prohibited from carrying
the handgun under Section 46.03 or 46.035.
I'm just now trying to bring myself up to speed on this, so is a govermental entity a city, county, or state owned building or property? Or all of the above?

It looks like there is the makings here for a good movie.Arock wrote: Rockwall County corruption is MUCH DEEPER than just this. A few months ago the Rockwall County Treasurer plead guilty to exactly the same crime ie. misappropriation of funds.
Texas Rangers, DPS and the FBI are investigating the entire county government of Rockwall County.
