You get an honorable mention!Skiprr wrote:I don't think I can claim this, but I am coming back from Phoenix that Friday evening to be at PSC Saturday before 7:00...so 1,226 miles.
Otherwise, if you count where I'll actually sleep the night before the event, it's only a 54.7 mile drive.

Yep, thats the Roadway Inn. I know it is new, but I wasn't as sure about whether it is nice or not.gwashorn wrote:
There is also a fairly new motel on Hwy 6 between the 35 Bypass and the 35 business. It is between the Dairy queen and Joe's BBQ. My cousin stays there sometimes.

Good job Gary - we were on the same page. I was just working on a hotel post.gwashorn wrote:There are a few new hotels on the Hwy 35 Bypass in Alvin just South of Hwy 6. Next closest area is Webster, Clear Lake. Try around the Bay Brook Mall in Webster also.
BTW Mapquest makes mistakes all the time. Pizza guys always end up at the wrong place when trying to deliver to my house. Google gets it.

I'll put 297. But if you want to have it calculated for you, click here and put your address in the first block.chasfm11 wrote:OK, it's time to play "trump"
297 miles from my front door to the Best Western in Clear Lake where I have a reservation. PSC is actually further yet. I'm using Delorme's Street Atlas and am getting the calculation from it. I'll be able to demonstrate it when I arrive.

Hmm, beat him by 1 mile. Smells fishy. You know that Google Maps offers 2 or 3 route choices. Are you sure you picked the shortest? The Annoyed Man wrote:292 miles, coming from Grapevine, per Google Maps. I got tomc beat by 1 mile!

Re: TXCHLFDay 2010 - Who is traveling the farthest?
Now that would be something indeed. There are a few newer hotels on the bypass. But the closet hotel to downtown Alvin is the Knights Inn and let me tell you, if I had to stay there, I would carry no matter what was posted.WildBill wrote:Downtown Alvin???USA1 wrote:I think I remember terryg saying something about providing anWildBill wrote:I didn't realize that it was a contest. Here are a few reviews:
We stayed at the rooms in the middle by the pool.Let me tell you,it was nasty but it was 1am and we were all tired, and kids.Never again will I stay here, the carpet at adjoining rooms was wet.My room the bottom of the tub was black.
I'm staying here right now. I travel for a living and live out of a hotel room. This is bad even for a Days Inn. The bathroom is dirty, tub and toilet. The water comes out of the faucet brown for half a minute. There isn't but 1 towel, the cleaning staff didn't replace the towels in my room. The sheets smell like body odor, there IS NO continental breakfast, none. Room itself has seen better days. Newly renovated? since when, 1975? There are several brand new motels and hotels right up Hwy 6 there. No name places but brand new facilities that are much nicer for comparable money. I'm checking out tonight..not one more night of this smell. I'm not mad I just know better. Oh, and the hotel is located painfully close to the rail tracks and there are no less than 3 trains that go by for about 10mins each starting around midnight ending around 1:30am..and they are very very loud. It would be easier to sleep next to the interstate in a tent.

Goggle says your 46.4 mi away. But it didn't change your ranking - still number 2.Purplehood wrote:I really doubt that 18.35 miles is correct (FM1960 and Champion Forest area).
I drive from home in NW Houston to work (inside the 610 loop) one way 26 miles. Friendswood is further south.
I hate MapQuest.
