You never know, it has been done before, successfully.....there's even a video of it:tiger1279 wrote:I carry too and for much the same reasons. Violent crime is occurring all around us and we see it everyday on the news. Faced with a threat I like to think I might be able to defend myself if I'm carrying a weapon. But the weapon is not a guarantee that you will be able to do so. Fact is I was the victim of violent crime once. Years ago I was a Gulf service station dealer and one night we were held up at gunpoint. A very agitated little punk stuck a snub nose revolved in my face and cocked it. Now we all know how easy it is for a cocked revolver to go off. He demanded the money and, naturally we gave it to him. He locked us in the restroom (which I could open from the inside) and ran. The police never caught him. I have often thought what I would have done if I had had a gun at the time. The worst thing I could have done was to try and draw my gun. You are never going to outdraw a cocked revolver in your face. He would have killed me for sure. Carrying a gun gives us a sense of security, but it is not absolute. You need time to draw your weapon and bring it into play. Any robber who knows what he is doing is not going to give you that time. I don't mean to preach - all I'm saying is being aware, being practical and using good judgement are important in knowing when and when not to reach for your gun.
