This has been making the rounds for a while. I tend to think she's serious, but there are so many fakirs out there it's hard to know anymore.

As for the link in the original post: Controlling deer population by hunting, i.e. killing them evokes emotional reactions that no amount of logic can overcome. Most people either get it or they don't. Just because deer decimate gardens and landscape vegetation in many places and often become common roadkill and become a nuisance will not influence those who view them as Bambi. A visit to New Braunfels to see the inbred, dog sized deer running amok evokes sadness for those that truly value the whitetail VS. giddy joyful noises from those that have no inkling of what is really happening. She is correct that people cause it, but she doesn't understand the implications of that statement.
I wonder what she would do if her house was infested with rats? Would she seek to control the population? Or would she just let them breed?
Well, my wife is squeamish about killing mice, and she thought the video I showed her of Brit farmers using dogs and pellet guns to kill rats was terrible. One of our dogs brought a dead rat trophy into the house awhile back, so I know there are some out there, but the wife didn't like the idea of me hunting them. However, I'm pretty sure if she saw a rat in the house she'd want it gone, no matter how I did it.
Does your wife know that rats and mice urinate as they traverse your dwelling leaving nice trails of filth. I caught leptospirosis from the little buggers while cleaning out a building. If you have rats in your yard they're in your house.
Yes, she does. Found mouse droppings in a silverware drawer and she emptied it and washed everything. I put a trap in the drawer and got the little bugger. I've also snagged some other ones but it seems some of them are adept at getting the "cheese" without springing the trap. We also had them in the vehicle we use for dog transport, which sits idle most of the time, and had to steam clean and shampoo the interior. Got one of those little buggers too but I need to escalate for total extermination. As far as rats go, we've cleared out a couple more acres of property around the house so they have less cover. She knows what has to be done, she's just tender hearted.

Kill people, not deer

http://www.cincinnati.com/story/opinion ... autologin=

From the mouth of what else: a college professor.
Cincinnati Parks makes the standard argument on how overpopulation of deer is not good for the forests. We as humans have done so much damage to this earth and every aspect of nature. We are so overpopulated, so is the solution just to kill some of us? We created the problem to begin with and the deer have to pay the price for it?
I truly love Cincinnati Parks, but I will not feel the same walking through them knowing that the silent trees, chirping birds and an occasional surviving deer have witnessed many a deer suffering and painfully dying with arrows striking them. Management of Cincinnati Parks, are you listening?
I longer longer hunt but have decided to remain in the real world anyway.
