I got an AK for this purpose because it was cheaper and less of a loss if stolen.LDB415 wrote:I've been thinking quite a bit lately about buying an AR. I've also been thinking about keeping it in the trunk of my car. I have to park in the driveway so there's the issue of it being outside all the time. One plus is the street light is at the end of the driveway so it's always very bright on the driveway.
I could bring it in and out but that would be numerous times of displaying the case and the fact I've got something I consider valuable enough to take in and out. I've been thinking if I could find a long enough bag, duffel or tent or folding chair or whatever, it wouldn't draw much attention.
I don't need it in the house. My G34 and G26 and XDM are more than adequate. I'm really aggravated our "leaders" have let it get to the point where we potentially need a rifle available to us at all times.

The border isn't accidentally open. The ruling junta wants it open because any and all consequences that stem from an open border are win win win for them.Excaliber wrote:The latest update on an "imminent islamist terror attack" in U.S. border areas from DHS that FBI doesn't see as worthy of inclusion in its national threat assessment can be found here.
The FBI sees anti abortion protesters and white supremacists as much bigger threats to worry about. The administration's open border policy and the fact that IS groups are actively working in Mexican border cities is no problem at all.
To say this is less than confidence inspiring is an understatement.

That one is nice too, and probably more covert, but I just didn't want to have to break my gun down. Before I bought one, I got a cheap duffel bag and a 6" piece of foam and cut out an insert for a rifle, magazines, and a handgun. I works OK but not quite as polished as what I bought.suthdj wrote:while looking at that one I saw this thought was nice alsoVMI77 wrote:http://www.amazon.com/UTG-Covert-Homela ... GMSAM2FTPN
This case works for me. Well made and inexpensive. Easily carries two long guns (carbine type) without scopes (one with), a handgun, and several mags. "Covert" is up the the user I guess. Too me it looks like a keyboard case.

I usually look for the cheapest that works when the item is non-critical. I've bought a lot of very well made and functional equipment...like gun belts, AK scope mounts, etc, made by UTG.Abraham wrote:VMI77,
Your case/kit beats mine by price and looks....well done.

If you buy a Thompson you can order one that comes in a violin case from the factory.Charles L. Cotton wrote:Being an old fart, I lean toward a violin case.

Maybe, maybe not. That may be true in many places, but for instance, if the plant where I work was attacked I might not have an exit.Beiruty wrote:But if you can reach your car, you are out of the engagement to safety. It is your call what to do.
