And NJ bans hollow point ammo period.
Without commenting how dumb a position that is, I do wonder about their definitions.
Example:
The Hornady Critical Defense or ZombieMax bullets aren't hollow at all, but instead are FULL-filled with some sort of plastic/rubbery substance to aid in expansion .... not hollow ...

Pre-fragmented bullets aren't hollow

I recall long ago stories of people cutting a cross in the nose of a bullet.

Crazy laws.

You can buy it and keep it at your home. You can transport it back and forth to a registered event, to hunt or to a gun range. But you could never carry it with you for a purpose like self-defense. It doesn't much matter. It is almost impossible to get permission to carry a gun for self-defense anyway so the ammo in it becomes a moot point.

Unless you have "connections" your request to purchase form is almost always denied.
Don't you know HP ammo is evil? Which makes it strange it is illegal to use in NJ. :biggrinjester: The anti crowd reveals their true intentions with laws like this. A big reveal is the desire to ban handguns. 80% of those shot with handguns survive. If handguns could me made to magically disappear overnight, criminals and everyone else would be forced to use shotguns and rifles.....which are more lethal, so the net effect of a handgun ban would be to increase the number of people killed with guns. And that's what the antis want: more people killed in order to advance their agenda. And we know that when more people are subsequently killed, they will call for a ban on rifles and shotguns. Everyone of these laws is nothing less than a cynical attempt to cause more injury and death to use as an excuse to ban all guns. The HP ban is the same....the intent is for self-defense shootings to injure innocent bystanders, not to save people from the effects of HP ammo.

Then London last year.

And now NYC and NJ.
And each event has probably boosted gun sales and convinced people who never owned a gun to buy their first. I've read several articles about the results of Sandy quoting people saying they're going to get a gun for "next time."
