I think it'd be tough (and likely uncomfortable) to carry while doing certain types of exercise at a gym. I'm sure something like a KelTec would work, and I do carry one of those occasionally. Even when I run in my neighborhood, I dislike carrying even the KelTEc. I also don't like the idea of locking "it" up in a locker that the Gym has access to. So to me, carrying to the Gym and leaving it in the car seems like a logical option.
Does it annoy me they have the policy? Sure. Would a lack of that policy change my carry habits? Likely not.
Don't get me wrong, it bothers me that they do have the policy, and I'd rather if they didn't. But even if they didn't have the policy (or signs), I'd not carry there anyway.
I don't think that's the issue. What a business cares about is making money. It doesn't matter what you think of their policies or what you say about them --if you keep giving them your money you're ultimately endorsing them. You're giving money to people who want to deny you the right to self-defense. At best the people who run this business are ignorant about guns, self-defense, and concealed carry. It's more likely that they're straight up anti-gun and anti self-defense, so rewarding them with your dollars is like giving money to the enemy. Of course, your money is yours to do with as you wish. When it comes to my own time and money I'm a hardliner on this subject. I will not voluntarily trade with any business I know to be anti-gun or anti- carry; and I have no interest in being around people who are anti-gun and anti-self-defense.
