Re: Just did the Wally Walk... OC'ing!

Just to add a quick note. One of my favorite things about some of the signage in my old state was when you saw a sign that said it was illegal to carry a concealed weapon on these premises. I'de reach down and uncover and continue in.

You got me to wondering. Maybe, just maybe the best argument for keeping OC illegal is to keep cops legal.
Almost every time the event could have been avoided. All of the major events that led to suits against a city, police force and mayor etc. could had been avoided if the dispatcher would had asked the proper questions and made sure the person in question wasn't a criminal. When the complaints came in the dispatcher never asked what the man or woman was doing and if they suspected they had or were about to commit a crime. On the tapes the caller would state that the person carrying the gun was pushing a baby stroller or walking a dog, the dispatcher should had replied with "that's not against the law unless.. yadda yadda..". Instead, the dispatcher would send a couple units to check them out. Over the radio the dispatcher would say "we have reports of a man walking down the street with a gun" and give a brief description.

Do you guys see how this could have easily been avoided?

Re: Just did the Wally Walk... OC'ing!

Coming from an OC state I can tell you that OC would work fine here once you got first the first few months of it. I say that because if it were made legal everyone would want to run around like a cowboy for a bit. After that initial period you would see it occasionally but not as often as you think.

In Ohio people would OC but not a huge amount. Mostly it was people with CHL's that just didn't feel like covering or decided that "today is an OC kind of day". There is a common misconception that OC'ing makes you a target of a crime. But, there are no statistics that support that theory. Ohio has not had 1 single crime where an OC'er was involved in a crime and targeted by a a badguy. In fact, I don't know of any crimes involving an OC'er, besides being harassed, disarmed and illegally detained by an officer of the law.

Nothing really changes with the legality of OC, the same as how nothing changed with the legality of CC. You simply go about your daily business, but this time your armed. When I would OC nothing changed except the manner in which I carried. I mowed the lawn, took the dog for a walk, shopped for groceries and pumped my gas and bought a beverage the same way I always did.

Once the sheeple start seeing everyday average people carrying guns that haven't went off and murdered anyone yet, they start to open their eyes and minds and realize the media has been feeding them garbage.

There is also a theory that you lose a tactical advantage. I will not disagree that the statement is partially true I would also like to point out that criminals always want the easy way out. They want to carry a gun to commit a crime, but most of them do not want to use it. They just want to get in and out as quickly as possible and as smoothly as possible. No criminal wants to get into a shoot-out. Now, if they walk into the local quik-mart and want to rob it and they start casing the place and you are in there CC'ing, they don't know you have a gun. If I am in there and I'm CC'ing and I'm also shopping, they don't want a shoot-out, they don't want to get a murder charge over $100, atleast not if they don't have to. So, I truly believe that the mere sight of a pistol in the hands of a good guy brings more positive benefits than negative.

Of course, there are numerous other benefits but, I don't want to ramble on any further.

Congrats on the OC walk OP, it's nice knowing you can carry and not worry about printing. Most of the time when I OC'd, no one ever noticed. It gets less stressful the more you do it.
