Ms. Massicotte was not killed; from the articles it appears he killed the victims that cooperated and didn't fight back.
I wouldn't say your assessment is all that accurate. He murdered two women, one of whom fought back constantly. The quote is about a third woman who was successfully bound and raped despite her pleas.
