If you know people in Southern Mississippi, it's interesting to listen their opinions why the uncivilized behavior rampant in New Orleans did not spread very far.

Re: Riots in London
I guess the "consent" they are looking for comes from the criminal community and not the law-abiding types. What a shame.'The way we police in Britain is not through use of water cannon. The way we police in Britain is through consent of communities.'
I understand and support peaceful protest, however, when "protesting" turns into rioting and looting, I fully expect LEO's to use force to immediately restore order. "Petrol" bomb = deadly weapon IMO, and warrants a sucking chest wound. A violent mob can not be reasoned with, or controlled, by anything other than force, deadly or otherwise.
IMO, this is yet another example of the importance of our second amendment. There are many possible threats to the "security of a free state". Freedom and security can be threatened by the lawlessness of citizens within a nation or state, just as easily as it can from external sources or corrupt government. When "official" channels FAIL to secure freedom, than it's up to the citizens to do so themselves. The citizens of London were NOT free to lawfully go about their lives during these riots, and the police did NOTHING to restore their freedom.
During the LA riots, Korean store owners formed their own protective militia to defend their lives and property, as did citizens in neighborhoods surrounding New Orleans during the Katrina catastrophe. And they weren't armed with baseball bats...
I can think of no other time where it would become more important to band together as armed citizens for a common defense, than in the midst of a lawless violent rioting mob. We pay our LEO's to do their jobs so WE don't have to, however, when they CAN'T or WON'T, it's time to grab a rifle, get on line, and pull security.
