Under the lessons learned from this poor woman's experience, what is the right answer? Don't walk directly to your vehicle if your walk parallels a driving alley? From a safety standpoint, I try to never park where I have to back out but he blocked her vehicle with his so I'm not sure it would have helped if her vehicle had been facing the opposite direction.

I've been out shopping many evenings recently and have been super attentive to what was going on around me. I doubt that I would have picked up on this one regardless of that.
what I made a habbit of doing when walking from the store to my car, is not going down the lane my car is parked on but the one just next to it, so if some one was following me down the lane, when I got into my car they would be infront of me with a car inbetween me and him.
