Pulled back the slide. THe gun went off with the eject port open.
A part of the exploded shell casing flew out the eject port (in pieces)
On examination I found that the fireing pin was defective. it was
hitting the primer when the slide was released without pulling the trigger.
I took it to a gunsmith. Moral of the story check your gun for mechanical defects
and don't assume anything. I was neglient for not checking a used gun before firing.
