Thanks for the input, I may place them out there occaisionally to see if I can stir up any interest. Is there a link that has all the acronyms on it? Some are obvious...however some I have yet to figure out.surprise_i'm_armed wrote:Manfred:
By the way, posting any kind of thread is kind of a hit or miss game.
Sometimes I post something that I think will have only passing interest,
but the board runs with it and gathers many comments.
But on the other hand, I posted the Jacksonville, Florida LEO's gunfight
to the death with a BG, which I thought would provoke a lot of comments,
but to date - NADA on that one. It's already fallen to page 2 of the threads.

Re: Idea for discussion topics
The example I gave was a bit fantastical, however it was just for example, and to give an idea of the format.surprise_i'm_armed wrote: Fictitious situations would not provide the sense of realism
that we would encounter in real life.
Fiction is only fictional until it happens. If this were 1985 and we were discussion ficticious scenarios and I said OK "...your at work and a plane hits your building..." or "...we're at lunch and a truck smashes through the wall of the restaurant we are sittnig in, and a guy gets out and starts shooting...", or "...we are down town at a courthouse getting ready to pay a ticket and some wack-o gets out of his car with an AK-47 and starts shooting in random directions..."
Those might have seemed pretty absurd at the time, however.
Not to mention the military and police use the "impossible scenario" questions and problems for training all the time.
I'll let the idea simmer for a little while longer.
Again, if you like the idea and would participate...speak up.

Idea for discussion topics
Hello all,
Here is an idea that may have already been explored, done, or shot down - if so feel free to direct me to the spot.
The idea is a “Scenario” thread or section.
Example:
Scenario 1
*5 Ninjas knock on your front door with big swords
*You are home in your 3 bed 2 bath home, in an urban neighborhood
*7pm
*Your Ray gun is sitting 5 feet from you on the coffee table
*No other people home
Those interested could respond with their ideal reaction to the scenario and why. You could site laws, precedents, authors, specialist, or your own ideas.
In my short time here it seems like we have everyone from law enforcement, to competitive shooters, to private security, to experienced CHL holders, all the way down to novice beginners. While self defense situations rarely go “according to plan”, I have always believed discussion and planning is never a bad thing.
If you like the idea and the moderators/owner thinks its OK, let me know. I could post them as Scenario 1, 2, 3 etc… in the Off Topic room.
